Our History
"The Church is not a building -- it's a People."
Foundations
The Methodist Episcopal Church was the first church established in Paso Robles, in 1887. It was housed in an adobe chapel on Airport Road. A few years later, the congregation moved to downtown Paso Robles.
Establishment
In 1926, a sanctuary was constructed on 14th & Oak Street, and the congregation gathered there for many decades.
Heartbreakingly, the structure was irreparably damaged in the San Simeon earthquake of 2003. The building was condemned, but it did not dampen the Methodist spirit!
Transition
In the following years, our congregation continued to meet faithfully every week at various rental locations (even outdoors at times!) until the current building was purchased in 2019.
Continual Growth
Through all these shifts and changes, this congregation has lived what is true everywhere: “church” is not contained in a physical location; church can happen anywhere people gather to inspire one another to love their neighbors well, to tell their stories of how God has shown up, and to build the bonds of community.
